It's the last week of October, 2nd month of fall. We're 4 days out from Halloween. I'm up tonight having watched Black Magic M-66, skimmed through Gunbuster, and a few Machine Molle videos for M83 on Julie's rec. I'm in a weird, distant place. Thank goodness for Jenny and people online who are nice to me. I was watching some old community channel videos remembering my youtube infatuation and wanting to make videos.

I heard the new Lemon Demon single Everybody Loves Raymond and it reminded me of Cows & Cows & Cows. Put that together with some Ewan Dobson videos and I have a nice Fall mood playlist. Earlier I was listing robots I like: M-11, Bender, Bubo, Wall-E, Johnny Five, R2D2, The Vision, Box, Ninjzz, Briaeros, North No.2. Just got my mind running in a direction. Robots are pretty cool.

I doodled a poor kid halloween costume trying to drum up some ideas for my CxW comic. I finally started Nuclear Winter and shot through the first 2 chapters. Later I drew a selfie with my long hair and new jeans. I found out I was Kidnapped by Lesbian Pirates from Outer Space is going offline soon
Shit is really bad right now. Tuesday night Adam's wife, picked a fight with me over me having the mail key. It escalated into a shouting match and I ended up retreating to my room, but not before she tried to force her way in. She was out there calling me a bitch and a faggot to him when I popped out to explain, but she cut me off. I texted him asking to talk privately. The next morning, on no sleep, I tried to catch him before work to talk, but he accused me to of trying to fight her and threatened me. He also said something about me finding a place to stay before shit got ugly. I packed a bugout bag & left to check in on Maggie & see Vince. Vince & I ended up hanging out with Brent & his friend Daniel later. From there Maggie swooped me up to go to Swing-o-Ween. I had a great time there as awkward as I was. The instructor was impressed in my comprehension. I kissed Maggie goodnight and headed off to Vince's. We had one of our usual talks and I turned out for the night. I got up just before noon, dreading dealing with stuff at home. Finally got on my way, paid my portion of rent & got a 30 days notice in.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10014978337070746391noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-910367574771056623.post-82986824509667731252013-10-27T11:23:00.000-07:002013-11-03T11:31:19.106-08:00Vital OrganizingOctober 26, 2013 9:27pm
I'm taking a quiet evening at home to myself. I spent last night at Vince's and most of the day Saturday. Last night we went out for a few drinks, got some late night/early morning Denny's before coming home. Maggie's been away all weekend for swing and I'd only messaged her around 8:30 tonight. I'm feeling the need to withdraw and recenter myself.

This week was a bit of a whirlwind. Monday was spent going back and forth texting Maggie. I lost a good portion of the day from an upset stomach. Tuesday was a little nerve-wracking getting ready for our big first date. The night was wonderful. Wednesday I took a personal day, but I think she was a little disappointed I didn't make it to swing with her.

On Thursday Vince & I did superhero night again before I headed off to Maggie's to help her prepare for her trip. I ended up heading home in the middle of the night before Friday.
This was the week of Julianna Hough's black face faux pas, comedienne Marcia Wallace's & Velvet Underground frontman Lou Reed's passings. This week I was into Katsuya Terada's Monkey King. Zac Gorman announced a vague new direction for his comics. The Kansas City Chiefs went undefeated. I drew Squall Leonheart and Muffin Man Prime. Julie released a beautiful print called Sister. Jessi did this kouhai/sempai self meme. I discovered Megan Nicole Dong aka Sketchshark. Kate Beaton put me up on John Martz's 31 skullamugs. I missed Draw Friends during my date on Thursday but you can watch it here. This was the week that Karla took off from twitter and in her absence everybody wrote fanfic about her. And then we all dreamed up a Little Mermaid themed costume party where she was our Ursula.
On a whim I purchase Sam Alden's Household after reading a tweet from Dustin Harbin. I find the online tumblr post and read it ahead of delivery. It's poignant, heart-breaking, intense. I feel like I need something to cheer me up afterward, but I'm very grateful for its existence.

Yesterday Steve Niles tweeted about his house getting flooded so today people gathered to help with his expenses.

People were still tweeting non-stop about Pokemon X/Y. Brian Wood & Becky Cloonan's Demo came out 10 years ago! Becky's NYCC recap got around, and some people were talking about the levels of harassment women at the show were experiencing. It was Ada Lovelace Day and my pal Jenny went to the Computer History Museum in Mountain View and took some choice photos. Today Frederator announced a Bee & Puppycat kickstarter and everybody went crazy!

I didn't accomplish much because shortly after lunch I fell asleep until just before dusk. I took a ride around and ran errands, and the evening air was nice. I made fish, rice, & steamed vegetables and had some PBR micheladas.
It's 12:30 and I've been fumbling again. The nice thing is I glanced at some tutorials after looking around at Jessie Estrada's dA. I found her abandoned webcomic Demonspawn. I think I'm gonna cut my hair today and buy some pants. Maybe a powerball ticket. Retirement still hasn't come in. I read Batman Earth 1 in it's entirety. It was okay. I still like Gary Frank even though he draws women like ornaments. Bluh.

Got reintroduced to Rachel Deering and Anathema. Hung around the house until about 2pm then rode around eventually to Starbucks. Bought jeans, gave myself a haircut. At Starbucks worked on Eurydice and at some point remembered Madame Blavatsky. Listened to The Mysterious Universe podcast ep 821 and looked through twitter archive.

Bravest Warriors season 2 countdown began today. I think the gov't shutdown ended.

I got up around 10:30 this day. Read about Onyx & Slam. Learned about Edmund Dulac from Jess Fink. I started my bboy mix and compiled a bunch of research for The Survivalist. And then I took off to go hang out with Vince, but he and Daniel found me first as I careened past the cafe. We holed up there for hours drinking Ancient Organic tea talking comics and what-not. Then Daniel took off as it got dark. He and Ian were chatting on FB as Vince and I got into a more personal conversation, and then Ian came and met us. We walked down and had a couple of good beers, then tried to go find a pizza place, but ended up going to Denny's.

On Friday (Oct 18) I must have slept in until about noon. I got into the newest story in House of Orr: Petals around the Rose. Jessi posted a link to Emily Broso's fantastic sketchdump. I had a great healthy lunch that afternoon and doinked around with Newt & Jenny. Later on I started writing a post-apocalyptic short called No Women. My free copic came in the mail that day. I spent a good amount of time going back & forth with Ian on picking out a race & class type for my D&D character. I eventually ended up going with a Svirfneblin Alchemist, though I considered a Vanara Rogue, and also a really neat Warforged based on Rom the Spaceknight, Alphonse Elric, North No. 2, and the Guyver. I actually wanted to do a guyver piece for the Vinces. I did start a Rom the Spaceknight illo, though. We actually didn't even get into D&D Friday night on account of all the Angry Ball drinking. On Saturday (Oct 19) we eventually rolled out to this cosplay thing in the park. Vince & Daniel & I put ourselves out there and had a lot of the fun while the others kind of faded to the background. I tore it up in comic book trivia. Went back to Ian's for recoop & drinking and then went to a birthday party in the evening where I met somebody. That was unexpected. Wow. Most of Sunday was spent talking with twitter family about nerd budding romance.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10014978337070746391noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-910367574771056623.post-9106733371254948672013-10-13T10:20:00.000-07:002013-10-15T10:21:58.870-07:00The Lazarus Return

It's 6:12am on a still sunless fall morning. I'm reading articles about Alice Munro whose just won the Nobel Prize in literature. I have a youtube video of Kanye West's Kimmel interview on pause. It's been nearly a month since I was fired from my day job, and in another day I can request the sum of my retirement which I hope to use for a new path in life.

I've been trying to make art all month. I've been drawing, rifling through old notes & sketches, rustling up drawing tools & tablets of paper. The weekend past was 24 hour comics day. The month has been rededicated Inktober. Alternative Press Expo and New York Comic Con are this weekend and already people are arriving.

Since the crack of dawn I've been sorting files on my computer, making mental notes of things I had hoped to get to and what year or season or month I'd first acquired them. It has suddenly become clear to me how important it is to write things, to get thoughts out, and to jog up the memory and excercise one's use of language.

I hope to be a creator. I hope to have a way to provide for myself and my life while being a creator.
It's a beautiful, serene Sunday afternoon. I'd been listening to Welcome to Nightvale until a brown out shut everything down for a few seconds. I've been active this week and it's felt invigorating. Last night I hung out with Ian and Vince. We played a little D&D at the local game shop, before abandoning our campaign in search of food. Had some excellent buffet, then wandered the local state college with aching bellies to find our friend at the bowling alley in the student center. The night was abuzz with vulgar humor and our concerted efforts to stave off ennui. I wish I had held onto my character sheet in which I had drawn my monk character, Tony Shalhoub, as well as a couple of masturbating giant spiders & cameos of the other players.

Today I've completed my laundry early and sketched Ian's character, Ugly.

The week began with the internet's pathos & rage over Copic-gate. I got reintroduced to Little Thunder with her recent cinema comics. A couple of people reblogged Annette Marnat's work. But Boulet stole the show with his child memoir comic here in English and French. Kate Beaton was back in the news after posting this fun Black Canary comic, as well as announcing a Fat Pony project at NYCC. Victoria put me up on this beautiful memoir and ode to Sailor Jupiter and gender ambiguity and teenage confusion. The government shutdown was still in effect.

I began the week with thoughts of sexism, feminism, Wonder Woman, and fiction that reflects lived struggle. Erin & Jenny kept me company all week with so much comedy twitter. I got Food Zine in the mail and read it all in one sitting! I also read Wonder Woman War Killer, Batman Then & Now, and started Batman & Robin and Night Fisher. I ate a lot of cheese this week and midway somewhere my daytime sleeping schedule reset, although I was getting up at like 2am. The Last Halloween updated for the first time.

I felt a lot of self-loathing this week but my buddies kept me sane, especially Jenny & Erin who made up an imaginary band and included me in it. So I fantasized about moving to Portland again. Also we all hate leaf-blowers together. America's Best Comics 2013 debuted with work from Kate Beaton and Faith Erin Hicks.

On Thursday I got away and visited with my friend Vince & we hung out late at a coffee shop mulling over story ideas until we were hilariously interrupted by some guy trying to sell $1 drawings. Getting out on Saturday was another welcome social event and it's helped me get a little perspective on my situation. I feel pretty confident about facing the coming week.
It's about how misery hates company, especially people who are not aware of themselves or how domineering they are and eat their roommate's oranges. My first real day back glosses over the entire summer I missed blogging about, and how things have come full circle from 4 years ago and I am no longer at the job that occupied for as long.

Today is the first real day back. Today is the Sunday of revolution, of real feelings, and real actions and the beginning of a new cycle. Today is the October for all future Octobers. Today is the Sunday afternoon dawn of all Sunday afternoons.

I am livid and drinking and writing from a place of presence and power. I am writing about nothing in particular, but soon that won't be true.

This was another week of joblessness, of the turmoil of the congressional budgeting for government and Obamacare. It was the week of the horse_ebooks reveille, the week of Rachel, Bridge, Kate, Faith, Renae, & Brian's birthdays. It was the week of discussion of Halloween twitter names, of the Free! finale, and soon the Breaking Bad finale.

I tweeted with a lot of friends, and in the meantime took a trip down to a nice neighborhood, dreamed about a buying a tablet for mobile sketching, and finished off a slew of library books. The first week of Comix Warriors was through this week and on Wednesday we got our new prompt: barbecue. I fed myself better this week, but struggled to normalize a sleeping schedule.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10014978337070746391noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-910367574771056623.post-69875795179064938732013-09-15T06:36:00.000-07:002015-04-22T01:54:16.182-07:00September 15, 2013

Halfway through the month, this is the first SAN I've written since I was fired from the job that dominated my life for the last 3.3 years. Everything from here on is a new path. I kind of like it.

I've been trying to find a lead in to returning to my beloved SAN, but nothing came out right. Meanwhile war with Syria loomed in the nation, Ariel Castro committed suicide, the New Delhi rape-murderers were sentenced to death. So many things happened over the summer. I went camping for the first time, got a new backpack and a new bike (which had been an unexpected gift). Korra returned this weekend, SPX, Mayweather v. Canelo, the Iphone 5. The summer of 2013 was a tumultuous one. In Russia members of the LGBT community were assaulted by religious zealots, Pope Francis seemingly preached sermons in contradiction to the Catholic Church, Obama & Putin made uneasy concessions to one another. I read Mark Waid's Daredevil, Gail Simone's Wonder Woman, Berserk, Gunnerkrigg Court. I finally saw Pacific Rim, took myself to The World's End & backtracked to Hot Fuzz. Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10014978337070746391noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-910367574771056623.post-2043113720777136902013-08-28T19:41:00.000-07:002015-04-22T01:54:16.162-07:00It's Monday August 26, 2013. Gossip about the events of the VMAs Sunday night littered twitter this morning, mostly stuff about Miley Cyrus. So inevitably "We Can't Stop" is filtered into the back of every stray thought on my mind. This was the Monday of roommate drama over our energy bill, and probably the nail in the coffin to this shared living experiment. I expect by October I'll be on my own again. SPX will probably be a bust for me this year.

I took myself to Woodward Park this afternoon to clear my head. I made a little ground squirrel friend I named, Chubs. I also had finished watching Hot Fuzz midday after drunkenly falling into a stupor last night. I had a pretty alright time watching World's End Saturday night, and I'm still kind of marveling at the range of roles these actors have played in the Cornetto Trilogy.

I'm going to try to squeeze in a viewing of Numero Deux after chatting with Sarah Horrocks about her inspirations for her Mumon-Seki comic. She says it should be finished by today, but I've been resistant to getting lost in the riptide that is tumblr.

I've had this sketch of the characters I invented for my Marvel Comics take on Watchmen. I've been thumbing through my notes from last fall, and trying to polish things up. I've also done a few things with Migret and Eurydice recently. Those are my projects for now. I came across some old notes for Aju Tengen in my google drive. Maybe I'll resurrect that as well. OH, the other thing I revived was my Ghost Bro which, like Aju Tengen, was from 2008 and also annotated in my google drive documents. Creatively, I've got a lot on my plate.

I plan to watch Breaking Bad tonight, watch the recent episodes of Adventure Time, and possibly some Regular Show. I've got 3 volumes of Gunnerkrigg Court & Berserk each (backtracked to Gunnerkrigg v1 to refresh myself). I also have Shadow Eyes, another Asterix book, and my recently purchased Manhattan Projects handy. I finished Punk Rock Jesus Sunday and returned it. I also read a little of Blade of the Immortal that same day while doing laundry.

I only wish I could get over this feeling of dread and indecision that always washes out the days and evenings. I tend to find myself late into the night tired and craving the comfort of sleep, having accomplished nothing. That has to change. I'm here typing, having just finished a whirlwind reading of Asterix and Son, and before that the final chapter of Are You My Mother. My mind is swirling with the thought of continually disappointing a boy whose life I find it difficult to be a part of, a Father whose vacillation between estrangement and presence in two children's lives is costing him dearly, and a cathected pet, my lost lizard son, Jojo.

I am back from an extended absence. It is now the middle of August as we near the end of summer. The Perseids have sailed the night. The temperature has risen for what we hope to be the dying gasps of summer.

The week began with a bit of male privilege quackery at the hands of Todd McFarlane, Gerry Conway & company, as well as Mark Millar who was keen to promote his swiftly debuting Kick Ass 2 flick. I was off to a pretty decent start with an energetic playlist mostly consisting of Das Racist, Tupac, and my trusty Fridays mix. I shopped around for a new backpack to replace the one I have let fall into literal shreds. It also occurred to me to look for some brushpens as my pitt black had all but run it's course.

There was a tomato fight on twitter precipitated by Terrence Wiggins & Jessi Zabarsky that I had chance to participate in. It inevitably led to me making my first caprese panini and forming tomato solidarity and enmity with acquaintances. I followed girltoonist on the advice of Brandon Graham, read about Sean Murphy's shady sounding apprenticeship, and backtracked through Girls With Slingshots to the last strip I read maybe back in March.

Ashton Kutcher gave a grown up speech for kids and people took notice. That Tuesday I found my little lizard friend perched in a sidewalk crack, and I stealthily swept him into an unused lunch tote where he rode the day with me. I was ecstatic to give him a home and bought him a terrarium and some crickets. But as I researched how to care for a lizard I became filled with dread that I had sentenced my tiny monster son to a slow death. I desperately needed food and rest, but I resisted to try and acquire whatever he needed. I even tried to take him hunting around the fence line to get some tiny crickets. I was a dreadful mass of self-loathing toward the end of the night. I left him out on our back porch that night and hoped he would either fall into his element, or just sleep peacefully.

I was amazed the next morning to find that he had not left. Even moreso when he was still there at the end of the workday. My friend's son and I went hunting for crickets that afternoon, and we piled them into the terrarium with Jojo, hoping he would discover his eating instincts.

That Wednesday on Brittney Sabo's advice I began following Danielle Keller whose art has popped up more than once in my tumblr feed. Lady Gaga and Kendrick Lamar were in the entertainment headlines. I narrowed down my backpack search. Apparently a new Criterion collection of all the Zatoichi film adaptions was released with an envy-inducing swath of indy artist illustrations. Always wondered what that felt like.
The SAN has been my weekly journal for over 4 years as I rebuilt my life and fostered my creative impulses. It has been my constant companion through the troubled, bitter, and often lonely years. It has been a notepad for a thought, the drawing board for ambition, and the chronicles of my tangential mindscape. Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10014978337070746391noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-910367574771056623.post-3997659059918337122013-06-24T19:46:00.000-07:002015-04-22T01:54:16.167-07:006/24/2013

It's time for me to cut to the heart of things. I've been struggling to get a post out all month, mostly for technical issues, but also for spiritual issues. I always figured that if I could actually sustain something long enough I would be able to look back and see this great thing that I compiled. It was the thing that attracted me to Jeff Smith's Bone. It's a thing that Stephan McCranie talks about all the time. It's in between the lines of every motivational speech or maxim on tenacity, productivity. It's at the root of Manny Farber's elephant art vs. termite art.

And week after week for the last four and a half years I have painstakingly archived every ounce of inspiration, every esoteric and ephemeral thing that has passed across my desk. I don't know why. I guess I'm just afraid of losing things as I often have through life. I'm afraid of starting at square one, of being in the dungeon with only a 2 square radius of light around me and no map. I thrive on the schematic and the archive. It's a habit. I don't feel like it's a very healthy habit most of the time.

I've been needing a break from this. At first the brutish routine of it all was the perfect coping mechanism for the period of loss & grievance I was experiencing. It was a way to get my motor running, and reintroducing creative things into my life. But over time, it just became too difficult to keep record of the things, as well as interact with the things & the people making the things. And when things lapse into laboriousness I lose sight of my objectives and run headlong into stagnation.

That's not what I'm aiming for. I need an adventure. It's why I've always dreamed and written and drawn. I thought for a while in my life that I needed to actually live out every adventure, but I've come to realize that I need an active imagination as well as an active social life. Somewhere therein lies the balance in the life I want to lead. That's where I have to go next. I can't chain myself to a computer looking at cool shit, no matter how cool that shit is. I need to interact with this stuff and these people a lot more. It's what's missing.

I'm not really sure where I'm taking myself with this.

I turned 33 this weekend. It's a quirky numerical significance. Jesus. Cool. It's also a third of the way into this third decade of life. I've got to reassess who I am and what I've learned and find a way to apply that to living.

Not that I don't want to talk about the weeks or the ephemera in the weeks. Monday (6/3) I did my laundry. I found Turtles. I marathoned AVX and finished up Global Frequency. Started reading Valkyrie on Shiftylook. Started reading Alcott Grimsley. Android finally released a vine app. It doesn't work on my phone. I got around to watching the Venture Bros season 5 premiere. Lexxy's lunchbox negotiations comic. Everybody was still up in arms about GoT red wedding episode.

Tuesday (6/4) Came home deprived of sleep and fell into short coma.

Wednesday (6/5) I worked a longer than usual day and got back late. It was a hot day. Watched part of Rachel's stream and listened to Eric's California playlist. Later that night I finally watched the 9th Elimination ep of Strip Search which I had partially seen streamed by Lexxy on Tuesday morning.
Thursday (6/6) I wasn't feeling very spirited the rest of the week. I found out that Drawn! was stopped back in May. I must have fallen asleep early again.

Friday (6/7) Got home to find out it was International Donut Day. Nobody was picking me up on their radar still and I felt stranded in the desert. Madeliene was gettting trolled. Mike K. stirred twitter controversy w/ trans-discrimination. I zoomed through the end of the Jimmy Palmiotti era of Valkyrie. Matabi on deviantart
Saturday (6/8) I helped Ian move furniture into his new apartment. We all hung out and had some beers and pizza and respite from the heat. It was about 107°. When I got home I showed some tumblr love all around. I reconnected with Doog Toons, especially video game life. I bought all three of Anthony Clark's sketchbooks.

Sunday (6/9) I decided to draw some googs. I tried to draw a lot more stuff, but then I got very sleepy and fell down. I woke up in the evening, but it was still sunny so it didn't feel as bad.
I had a lot of things backed up: uploading memorial day weekend pictures, reading a bunch of comics online and in print, doing laundry, cleaning my room etc.getting my haircut.

On Monday (5/27) I was recovering from the weekend in L.A. It was Jordyn Bochon's birthday. I crept along reading Soldiers of Victory v1 and started reading Sam Alden's Eighth Grade. Tuesday (5/28) was kind of a bust for me since I hadn't had much sleep. Work fed us and I came home fairly early and slept till Wednesday morning (5/29). I had "Fine China" playing on loop in the back of my mind so I watched the video and cackled at the ridiculousness. I watched the Escapist ep w/ Team AmErika. I also bought Rachel an AIO printer after I read she broke hers. Victoria got us all riled up about cookie pizzas. Rachel opened up orders for her Ink Sport Zine. Tumblr changed the orientation of posts. Amber had a late night draw stream.
I got caught up in Shoomlah's Asheron's Call heckler chronicles. Everybody was wishing Gigi and Geneva happy birthday early on Friday (5/31). I read Sam Alden's Eighth Grade almost in one sitting. On Saturday (6/1) I was up early and watched the new Sanjay & Craig and loved it. There was also an ep of Fairly Odd Parents that had a quasi-racist and then homoerotic joke in it. I did some organizing in my room and unearthed my Video Girl Ai vhs tapes & some dvd's. People were chattering about Matt Smith leaving Doctor Who and who would be the next Doctor. I found out about Unlocking the Truth the most brutal sixth grade band. Later on I cut my hair, and then we had a pool party. I finished Drama, Global Frequency, and read a little AVX. I also caught up with the 2 episodes of Strip Search I hadn't yet seen. I was pretty lazy on Sunday (6/2). Julie finished her poster for Station Zero! I created King of Siam My Bad Comics tumblr. Victoria was warming up on some Amelie drawings. Megan Brennan did another first angel comic. I learned about the Koh I Noor thanks to Jill Thompson. I created a pretty good playlist with Bastille, Justin Timberlake & Samurai Champloo. The Red Wedding happened on Game of Thrones and the whole internet went insane. I started reading Diana Thung's August Moon. This was the week of the 2nd tornado in Oklahoma, Justin Bieber's trouble with Keyshawn Johnson, and much agonizing over my broken backbeat 906's. A lot of people were doing drawings based on Pokemon Fusion.

It's Friday morning and I just finished watching the latest episode of Strip Search, feeling like the week has rounded out. So sad to feel my vacation coming to an end, even though I am anticipating a great memorial day weekend in L.A. with the roommates and extended family.

This week I spent a lot of time cooking, planned out about 4 meals: bbq/lemon pepper chicken & rice, black bean chili, and chili lemon tostadas. It was all met with lavish praise, which does wonders for the ego. Cartoon Network's pilot shorts snagged a big spotlight this week, my faves being Steven Universe and Clarence. I got to hang out in a Draw Friends stream, which was also fun. I also figured out that monster-hunter anime that was bugging me: Kemonozume. With the exception of a late night hot tub fix, and a bike ride to the park & the bookstore I barely spent any time outside of the house which was disappointing considering the lack of productivity. Instead I spent a good amount of time roaming the house with my phone in hand tweeting.

Some events this week were the Oklahoma tornado disaster, the announcement of the Xbox One, Yahoo bid on tumblr, the Connecticut train derailment, and the Washington bridge collapse. I was focused at the beginning of the week on drawing a Rachael and Penny fan comic, but my inspiration slipped away. Things that got added to my queue were Nowhere Men and the 42 comics recommended by Buzz Feed, but also Jessica Abel & Matt Madden's Mastering Comics, Seven Soldiers of Victory v1, B.M. Bendis' Moon Knight v1, the first three volumes of Orbital, and Raina Tegelmeier's Drama. I also was inspired to draw some Steven Universe fanart. Things to get to are Gundam 0083, Utena, Attack on Titan (both anime & manga), and basically everything in my To REad folder.

I spent Monday (5/20) with the roommates doing laundry. Everybody was tweeting about the yahoo/tumblr thing, and Rachel mentioned her fanart giveaway. Tuesday (5/21) I got up early and made some coffee for my roommate. I had fallen asleep early Monday night so yeah. I watched the Bracko episode of Adventure Time and caught up with all the episodes of Bravest Warriors. Also I finally finished Rebecca's Jack and the Beanstalk retelling comic. Everybody was crazy for the cartoon network pilot shorts. It was Sloane's birthday on Wednesday (5/22). I discovered Zac Gorman's Burgertown. Corey Godbey had a chapter out in the new Spera v3. I spent like 3 hours hanging out in Draw Friends. Terence, Brian, David, Caldwell, and Nathan were hilarious. Nathan was also a little gross. I read Ian's Bog Bones that day. I also read the Buzz Feed piece on the 42 web comics. Late at night Amber streamed and she drew me as Superstar Mitsuru. Penny drew a great Poison Ivy for Team 90 Zine! On Thursday (5/23) I took a nice bike ride to the park and then to the
bookstore. A bridge in Washington collapsed interrupting some of the
flow of traffic toward VanCAF. I planned to go swimming when I got
home, but I got sidetracked, and ended up staying up pretty late. Early into the morning of Friday (5/24) I started collecting
Steven Universe fanart on my tumblr in hopes of doing some of my own.
Brittney sure appreciated it. I read Moonknight v1 and it was pretty
funny. I
got up early on Friday and made my roommate a bowl of nachos from my
leftover taco stuff the night before, and some coffee. Then I fell back
asleep and lost a lot of Friday. We left for L.A. that night and I saw
a cute girl at a starbucks near the grapevine. She stuck out in my
head so I drew a doodle of her when I got home. Saturday (5/25) was the day of the barbecue and we all helped set up. I ended up hanging out with some cool people who were friends of friends. On Sunday (5/26) we hung out at Santa Monica Beach, and then had a 3 hour fiasco trying to get something to eat, but as a bonus I had my first taste of Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles.
I was excited on Monday (5/13) for the Light Grey Art Lab Show. Julie & Britt are both showing. Then Spike tweeted about Attack on Titan and I watched the first episode. I resuscitated a mysterious drawing in SAI. I caught up with some outstanding art posts by my friend Finchiekinstheowl. I glanced at some classic and exceptional dinosaur art. I think the HIMYM season finale aired this week. I still hadn't caught up with Adventure Time nor Strip Search. I did read some What I Did and Seven Soldiers of Victory v2.
Early morning on Tuesday (5/14) I looked back through Roy's Boys and Ice Cream Surfer and decided that Ice Cream Surfer wasn't so bad. I looked through the Infinite Corpse site thanks to Brandon Graham's link from last week. After work I came home and pretty much passed out from exhaustion. It was a hot couple of days.

I learned about Kuli Kuli and Molinga on Wednesday (5/15). I dreamed up a Box (of Alpha Flight) twitter that I could harass Brandon with. Leslie Hung's sketchbook had sold well at TCAF and the orders continued to come in through the week.

Early on Thursday (5/16) I happened to visit The Dollar Bin, and look into Battle Zoo. I read about the AP Justice Dept. scandal and the passing of Richard Swanson, soccer enthusiast. I got home from work and started watching Utena. Rebecca drew a cover for Regular Show! Steven Russel Black lit a fire in my mind for Eurydice the Crowned. I caught up with Ken Niimura's Henshin. I flirted with my Original Wolverine Tumblr idea. I read the rest of Rachael and Penny up to the current strip. I found out about Pink Project via Saichen Teng. Latenight into Friday morning I marathoned Strip Search and went crazy that Lexxy came back!
Lauren, Rachel, and Penny were good twitter pals this week. Dale & Jessi were cuties. I drank a lot of bacardi, and slept early on Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Friday I took some time to right out some good #ff tweets for people very dear to me.

Saturday I got caught up in the hurly burly of Eurovision. Lauren tweeted about Mastering Comics by Jessica Abel and Matt Madden.

Sunday I tried to force myself to draw a Rachael & Penny fan comic, but it was slow coming.
I read this article about why Iron Man 3 was the best of the series. I watched and laughed at that Lil Dicky Ex-boyfriend video. Starting looking through Alan & Julie's Lore compendium for LitV. Julie shared her 80s playlist and we chatted about her superhero goth rpg character. I pulled up some Galaxy Rangers stuff to share with her, and combined with some Cowboy Bebop music Rachel shared earlier I suddenly felt like drawing a Spike & Goose fan art.

This was the week of the first 3D gun being fired, the appeal for the stay of execution for Willie Manning, and Charles Ramsey's rescue of three girls who had gone missing for a decade. There was also that weird elite cosplayers meme going around.

I thought up Wormhole-fi, and Adobe announced the change to subscription only service. Early in the week I was very good about cooking dinner for our house. Ray Harryhausen passed away. On Tuesday I drew some art for Amber. Natalie's Mom turned out to be the missing Mrs. Breen Melissa McCarthy shouted out on CBS's Mike & Molly. I read a bunch of Jailbird and got caught up with the last year and a half! It was Moebius' birthday!

On Wednesday I decided to take a tour of my tweet archive and try to compile some things for old projects. I broke some bread for Rachel's sake and bought a print while simultaneously registering a Storenvy site. I read about Jupiter's Legacy and decided for the umpteenth time that I don't care about Mark Millar's thoughts. I learned about the 72 Demons zine that never was from Jordyn & Britt. I discovered Everyday Comics. I started watching ebay for a good deal on a phone. I dropped in on Penny's stream and Aaron was there. We all got a little riled up about the Photoshop thing and I ended up starting a TMNT drawing. Spike talked a little about the horror anthology she compiled and her inspirations. That night I watched Entering Through the Mind and the Colin Baker Attack of the Cybermen two parter.

On Thursday I found out Deni Hlavinka got spotlighted on Radio Boston and listened to some of her newer music, while learning about her lyric writing instructor, Michelle Ferrick. It was a crappy day for relying on roommates. I spent a good part of the day watching phones. And then I started reading Boku wa Mari no Naka. I caught up with Calamity Jon's Superman Villian portraits.

Early in the morning on Friday I started catching up with Sakana. I learned about The Mythical Show. I watched the Grant Morrison thing with Kevin Smith about his Batman series. Julie had a stream and it was the best. In fact, I couldn't stop drawing because of it.

I finally just bought a phone on Saturday. I drew a bunch of things. And then I took myself out to IHOP. On Sunday we had a Mother's Day Barbecue. It was very hot.

It's been an eventful weekend. On Friday I was in Julie's livestream as she worked on a new page of Lost In the Vale. I didn't want to leave, but I got invited to watch Iron Man 3 with my buddy, Ian and his friends. We headed to his place afterward for a few beers, and some awkward livingroom sleeping arrangements. Got up hungover and did McDonald's. My roommate had family & friends coming over for a pool party barbecue. As usual, I had a lot of fun playing with his sister's kids. And I got to sleep in today and have all next week off.

This was the week of Comics Alliance getting axed by AOL, International Labor Day, the smallest film ever made:A Boy and his Atom, the beginning of California wild fire season, May the 4th (be with you) and Free Comics Day!
This week was very active for me. I tweeted a lot with Victoria, Julie, Penny, Rachel, Karla, and Jordie. I got started on Jojolion, and caught up with All Night. I methodically went through tumblr and bumped up good posts by people I like. I even did some twitter shout outs. I found out about the comics Ice Cream Surfer, Unlife, and Kairos. I read the first chapter of Locke & Key, some of the AVX series, Ghost omnibus, and Squadron Supreme.

At work I had to train a guy to cover my vacation; this was the 2nd week of that. I took it easy. I really wanted to watch the Dirty Pair and War in the Pocket DVD's I borrowed from the library but I couldn't get to them for some reason. The same thing happened with some fanart I wanted to do for Lost in the Vale, All Night, Balderdash, and others. I learned about the reporter who got a picture of a baseball almost beaning her in the head, Willie Nelson's fake Lord of the Ring's Gandalf Audition for his 80th birthday, Chelsea Saunders aka Pixellated Cowboy, and sat in one of Amber's streams. I started reading the Adventure Time comics. It was just a whirlwind of things leading up to the first weekend of my vacation. Since I'm tired and frazzled and late here is the week in tweets.

April is almost done, I am entering the 3rd month in the new place, and the temperature is rising. This was the week of the NFL draft, social media awareness of CISPA, and the transfer of Dzhokar Tsarnaev into a federal prison. I learned about Jenny Suk and Jhené Aiko, learned and practiced an arrangement of Frank Ocean's Thinking About You and Chris Isaak's Wicked Game, and prepared for my roomie's sons birthday party on Friday. It was an emotionally taxing week at home with so much of personal time constantly encroached upon followed by condescension.

The week started out innocently enough. Irene Koh's Alba made its way to my eyes. Nadiezda dazzled me as well. At work I had to begin training a guy I used to work closely with to cover my vacation in May. It actually wasn't so bad the first day. And then Wednesday I was on my own again, and we had a corporate visit and were all asked to stay out till 2pm. I ended up having to help somebody. It was Marlo Meekins' birthday! I drew her a thing. Butts were ubiquitious this week.
Thursday was pretty tough. I bought a couple of beers on the way in. We ran into an old friend from work. And then my evening was ruined and wasted. Friday was the birthday party and the saving grace for the week. I get along surprisingly well with my roommate's family. Had his nephew and niece in my arms jumping on trampolines; had an exhausting, fun time.

I did my laundry Saturday and read a few issues of Sweet Tooth. I think I finally got up to the first Emi Lennox story, whom I owe gratitude for introducing me to the series. When I think back to 2010 when I was still discovering a lot of artists on the web, and trying to get my own art rolling, I get a weird sense of parallel lives across the divide. This week I also began and finished R.E.D. which was pretty short and one dimensional in comparison to the film adaption. I read a few pages of the Seven Soldiers of Victory v2, also realizing that I had v2 not v1. I tried to get into Fringe v1, but it reeked of sardoodledom. I bought myself an acrylic paper tablet while out shopping for the boy's birthday present. I finally watched another episode of Strip Search. I'd like to get caught up with the show today and tomorrow, watch Gundam 0080, and start Jason's What I Did, and The Losers.

Sunday I took a bike ride and wandered around Barnes & Nobles for a bit. It was a nice warm evening to get out of the house and be on my own.

It was an intense, difficult week for America. On Monday, the Boston Marathon was rocked with two explosions that left 3 dead and many injured. Through the week law enforcement and the FBI worked on identifying suspects and gathering information, and by the end of the week we were left with a suspect in custody in critical condition and one dead. A fertilizer plant in West Texas suffered a devastating explosion that left at least 15 people dead and hundreds injured or lost. In China the H7N9 continued to claim more lives.

Today I woke up slightly hungover. I had to return Stardust Memory and Myspace DHP v5 today, so I swapped them out for What I Did by Jason, Fringe v1, R.E.D., The Losers, Seven Soldiers of Victory and two DVD's: Gundam 0080: War In the Pocket and Dirty Pair. I'd say that's a good haul.

I read another great Sam Alden comic, The Worm Troll. I learned about David Gaddis & a few other great early web comics creators because of this article about Modern Tales.
To shut my alarm off and then sleep for another hour. We went bowling for my roommate's nieces' belated birthday party and hit up the pizza parlor. It was a fun day and I love his extended family. He and his sister make a hilarious duo. We ended the visit w/ a lazy watching of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. I played with a pitbull and a bunch of kids. I was pretty happy. I also bowled pretty well too. At home I got into an impromptu fanart for Julie's Lost In The Vale comic. I felt very vulnerable and self-critical about my art and lack of professional accomplishment. It came out while catching a quick workout with Adam. Tonight, as Monday rolls in, I can smell hotdogs roasting on a grill a few apartments upwind of me. I'm going to dissect the week in a second as we head into the last week of April and near the last month of Spring. Tonight I watched Little Witch Academia!
I read a few of those pixel tutorials, and somehow ended up on 4chan. Then found out about a newer Yoshitaka Amano book, Hero, and pined away for an Android mini-pc. By the wee early hours of Tuesday morning (4/16) I was perusing old bookmarks. Wednesday (4/17) I spent a ridiculous amount of time and effort trying to set up a windows media center stream over our home network. I failed. I'm not sure what happened Thursday (4/18) but I know I didn't get much sleep nor much done. On Friday 4/19) I was just happy to be done with the work week, so we went on a journey to get some Angry Orchard Cider, barely made it back, and then I drank like a mad man.

This week I kind of buckled under the pressure on completing the t-shirt design for the boy's birthday this next weekend. It was a week of struggle and uncertainty. Thankfully I had friends to share a laugh with.
Monday April 8: I made fried rice and worked out, then marathoned the final few issues of Uncanny X-Force v1. It was a melancholy completion. Lost In The Vale began!

Tuesday April 9: Work was unnecessarily complicated and I got home after 5pm. Had some pasta & watched a little of Monday night's RAW with the boys. At work I got back into Sweet Tooth. It's a perfect queue having recently read Roman Muradov's Antler Coffee in Myspace DHP v5. Dustin Harbin laid out his tools for The Tools Artist's Use.
Wednesday April 10: Today was a short day. And then I got back into the office and they tried to drop more bullshit on me, but I wasn't having it. I'm applying for new jobs today. Right now I'm going to try to draw some wrestlers while I'm still kind of hot. Had a good life talk with Adam before bed.

Thursday April 11: At work today I read a lot of Tin Tin In The Land of the Soviets. It was more rustic than I expected. I learned about Tonkutsu Ramen via Little Froggies.

Friday April 12: Already home and drinking apple beer. Today was the calm after the storm after work. This week I was the storm, and it was as unnerving as it was empowering. Today was also the one day out of the work week I didn't read comics at work. It shouldn't ever be difficult for me to find time to read. It takes the least amount of effort, and provides such a large input in my creative process.

So far this week my focus has been on working on a secret birthday project for my roommate's son, putting off doing my taxes, and making DVD's. I learned about Vampybitme this week, followed a lot of Rebecca Tobin's tweets, and listened to a bunch of Smooth McGroove. It was the week of Margaret Thatcher and Annette Funicello passing, Kobe Bryant's achilles tear, and then Chi Cheng of the Deftones passed away.

Saturday April 13: Everybody was gone when I got up, so I had brunch to myself and then got going on my taxes. My buddy gave me a good tip on filing my state taxes for free so this year I owed nothing, and paid nothing. It was just about an even year as far as finances go. We did some barbecue and drank cider beer before slumping at the couch to Knocked Up. Then everybody went to sleep and I finished the movie by myself and felt a little sentimental. Also I was kind of sore from our leg work out earlier. David Alegre Chaos Wolf / Fiona Hsieh Best Art Ever April 12

Sunday April 14: Went to work right away on my secret birthday project. Made some good progress and warmed up for a week of drawing. Even made it out of the house to go swimming. Today I read about the new Daft Punk album Random Access Memories, and streamed some old cut material "Sky Drive." Today I also read Guy Davis & Scott Allie's Solomon Kane comic in Myspace DHP #5 and loved it. I studied his panel composition and pacing and felt smarter for doing it. Rachel & Sarah's late night tumbles got me interested in reading Getter Robo Go by Ken Ishikawa.
I've been struggling lately to find balance and alignment. Last month I felt the void of personal time, last week I lost time to snoozing, and this week I just couldn't guide myself on my own path.

Monday April 1: I was the first one up in the house. Watching Strip Search I want to start writing about my new situation like I'm on a reality show. I made myself my inaugural banana smoothie and got my laundry together. Spent an inordinate amount of time searching for the title of that monster hunter anime where the guy runs away with the girl. Queued up New Mutants v3. Had a nice laundry day with the fam, even got some boba on the way back. I then read a bunch of Amy Falcone comics: Cardigan Weather and Citation Needed (which I read in my classic backward fashion). Watched the new Adventure Time directed by David O'Reilly before getting sucked into wrestling. Had a late night supermarket run, before coming home to watch the newest ep of Strip Search. It is now early morning Tuesday.

Tuesday April 2: Short days are good. I walked home today and got in before noon. Time to make some money and catch up on comics. That is the mantra. I read a lotta bit more of Citation Needed

Oops I fell asleep and had a nightmare.

Wednesday April 3: Started the Otherworld Saga of Uncanny X-factor v1 early in the morning. Queued up Uncanny Avengers # 1 also. If I haven't said so, I've been trotting along with The Authority v3. I'm like 8 parts into this storyline. I drew a comic today. My other mantra this week was Sit Down, Shut Up, and Warm Up--which I kind of accomplished, but failed to follow through on. I started reading Myspace DHP v5. Loved The Gax of Life especially.

Thursday April 4: The world lost Roger Ebert today. I perused some past blog entries but passed out early.

Friday April 5: I drew a comic at work today. I also got a bunch of episodes into Stardust Memory.

Saturday April 6: I was the first person awake today and had some nice quiet time to myself. Started writing some notes for an Authority like comic. Did some grocery shopping, and then some weight training with the boys. Had to renew my library DVD. Later did some more grocery shopping and then hit the jacuzzi. Finished the night off watching Mr. Bean and snacked on food. Pretty eventful day for the week. Also we have so much food now. I read the first chapter of Yotsuba.

Sunday April 7: I did some laundry and read a bunch of Uncanny X-Factor. This series is going in my favorites of all time. I got a haircut and went swimming today. The family came down and met me by the pool and we had barbecue for dinner. It was a pretty nice day.

This was the first week of April, the week of april fools. There was a lot of stuff going on with North Korea armament & missile testing, Wrestlemania XXIX aired, Nemu-Nemu celebrated it's 7th anniversary, Ian Andersen had a birthday. I learned to play Valerie. I kind of lost my comic mojo by Friday, but I got in a lot of quality watching and reading, while balancing time with the roomies. Money seems a little shaky right now, so I keep hoping and wishing something turns a corner for me in this art thing. Here's some great work by Kai Carpenter. Here's the new Skadi site. There were some warm days and we got out to the pool, but also there were thunder and lightning storms in the distance. The country rallied around the upcoming supreme court decision on the definition of marriage.
Monday March 25: Today I was pretty lazy and spent almost all day indoors. I ate quite a bit, but was plagued by the bacobit burps, probably precipitated by some turkey dogs I ate. Gross. I watched the entire Sakuga Anime panel from Anime Central 2011. And then I lost a few hours to watching UFC 158. It's back to work for me tomorrow, but I'm sure it will be a short day. I'll need it to catch up on some sleep. Hopefully this week I can catch up with a lot of other things. I'm way behind in Adventure Time, Archer, Strip Search, comics in general, and I have just under a week to watch all of Gundam 0083. It would also be nice to draw this week. I haven't really read many web comics lately with the exception of Balderdash and I'd like to fix that. I think I heard recently that Oni Press is rereleasing Scary Go Round! Also I've been trying to figure out the name of an anime I watched on Crunchy Roll back in 2008 about a young guy from a family line of monster hunters who falls for a monster girl and runs away with her.

Tuesday March 26: Got off at noon, came home and snoozed. My roommates made some ridiculous shawermas. I had two to myself. What a pig! I finished reading the Nao of Brown and then watched the Simon & Marcy episode of Adventure Time. Both were fantastic. I learned that Jordie is coloring a revival of Quantum & Woody. What a good time to read the original run!

Wednesday March 27: Was home by 9am. Had some animation daydreams I wanted to draw. Lately I've had a lot of images pop into my head that are beyond my artistic grasp. I had a good long nap, then woke up and ate some more shawerma. I had plans to marathon Akira or Gundam 0083, but I didn't. Instead I watched Alex Butera stream for a bit, watched some musical youtube vids, found out about Stoker, got the newest Archer episodes, and made some barbecue chicken. It was Lexxy's Birthday! She won a cintiq on Strip Search. Rachel drew Cygnus, but I was thinking: Bishounen Ice King.

Thursday March 28: Today was the dumbest day. All day my eye felt dry and irritated. Then I got back to the office and was served up a bunch of bullshit. So I came home and had two tallboys, watched an episode of Strip Search, and calmed the fuck down. I got to get out of here. This place and these people are stupid.

Friday March 29: We had a barbecue and I spent most of the day out by the pool and eating lots of chicken. I read a few pages of One Punch Man but got distracted.

Saturday March 30: I watched another episode of Strip Search. I returned Nao of Brown today and picked up Myspace DHP. Then I went swimming for a bit. Had a great dinner with the fam and watched Shaolin Soccer which had been heavily edited though in the original language. There was a lightning storm tonight.

Sunday March 31: Late into the crack of dawn I finally get caught up with Strip Search. End up going to bed at 5am, waking at 2:30pm. Good job, loser! I checked in on So Far Apart which sadly hasn't been updated in about 5 months. I read a few pages of One Punch Man, which suddenly reminded me of some old concepts I came up with when I was 17. I'll have to scan those in soon.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10014978337070746391noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-910367574771056623.post-17217913951866634802013-03-24T01:24:00.000-07:002013-03-26T01:35:32.400-07:00Cider Rules the HouseThis was week three in the new place, and the penultimate week for the month of March. It was hard to keep up with current events, much less with the internet. Dongle-gate was this week.

Monday March 18, 2013: I started downloading the remaining Winter 2013 Collection: The Whole Story comics. I read Road Stories. Ryan Estrada continues to surpass my expectations as an artist and an adventurer. Oldtype/Newtype

Tuesday March 19, 2013: Today was Chicken & Waffles Day. I found the holy grail. We celebrated and nothing else mattered. And then we all went bed early. I can't remember if I read Nao of Brown this day, but it's been a really great read so far. I'm quickly becoming obsessed with the world it resides in.

Wednesday March 20, 2013: I had a thought earlier today about mapping phenomena and their durations through the years of my memory. A quick glance up a particular year would give me a snapshot of all the phenomena that occurred during that year. I'm not really sure why my brain is so obsessed with informational systems. Anyway today turned out to be a great day for talking out personal issues, and I got to say some things about my relationship with my mom, and my last memories of her. Getting into my new rhythm and ritual. Packed myself a lunch.

Thursday March 21, 2013: The lunch made a spectacular breakfast as I struggled to not spend any money while at work. This was the thursday that I almost jacked myself up when my machine fell. I recovered, got in early and headed home with a lot of focus and energy. The kitchen is now pretty well organized. I also made dinner and felt more in step with my personal rhythm. At work I started that whole graph of phenomena through the years. There has to be some simple graphing/list program that I can use to manipulate this data. I guess I'm interested in the intersection of moments along different narratives. That would be the historian and storyteller in me trying to sort things out.

Friday March 22, 2013: It was my friend Ian's birthday and I bought him a Hobgoblin Brew. We had some tasty enchiladas, and apple cider beer. I discovered VGE and Balderdash.

Saturday March 23, 2013: I got up later in the morning and made myself a nice breakfast. Ran some errands and got back into Wait Till Next Year which I think I started Thursday night. I read a particular passage that made me anxious to read more Cross Game. Today I read up the current page of Balderdash. The Bartkira meme passed over James Harvey's desktop. Can we just acknowledge how great Henry the Worst is, already?

Sunday March 24, 2013: My roommates went camping so I had the house all to myself. I watched The Original Kings of Comedy and Iron Sky. I read some more Authority v3 while doing laundry. Then more apple cider beer into the night.

This week was pretty rhythmic for me, and I made some improvements to my living and head space. As soon as I can make some room for a bookcase I expect to throw myself back into my creative hive and churn out some interesting things.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10014978337070746391noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-910367574771056623.post-60637697663841390412013-03-17T22:57:00.000-07:002013-03-21T21:34:29.446-07:00Green In the FaceThis was the week of the SoCal tremor, the election of Pope Francis, and the dissolution of the Korean Armistice. I was reeling from missing out on ghiblijam the previous weekend, and struggling to find some personal time while maintaining civil harmony with my new roommates. I didn't find much time to socialize on the internet, nor did I develop any projects. Work continues to become more unobtrusive, but without the long bike rides I lack the time to air out my thoughts. St. Patrick's Day was this Sunday and I celebrated by feeling hungover, and maybe turning a little green in the face.

Monday March 11: I thought it was 3pm when I got up this morning. Guess that time change did a number on me. It actually was only 10:30am. We grabbed some pretty delicious burritos at a place I've been meaning to try. Later on the day was too nice to not take a walk. I caught up with Strip Search before bed. Started reading Wait Until Next Year. I read an article about shady dealing with the Sullivan's Sluggers kickstarter . Eric "Colossal" Feurstein's ode to internet art theft. Rishab Soni on Behance. Francis Livingston on deviantArt

Tuesday March 12: I started reading The Nao of Brown. I stayed up late trying to wrap my mind around how many cable channels we have. I caught this scene in an Anna Paquin movie that I'd seen once before in some hazy memory. I think the movie was called Margaret. I also heard the first couple songs from Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience.

Wednesday March 13: We had a dumb meeting this morning at work. I wish I could get away with drawing instead of listening. I had a short day, then came home, showered and dressed. I helped my roommate's son with his homework a little bit and reminisced about working with children and teaching. Today was a pretty warm day and all day people were talking about the new Pope. Julie drew some cutey pie lineplay avatars. I posted my rip-off square face generator avatar.

Thursday March 14: Listened to the entire 20/20 Experience today. Also worked out a little on a treadmill and decided our community gym was pretty lame. It was one of those warm, dreamy spring afternoons.
Friday March 15: Went to a cigar event after work. All we did was bitch about work and I got dizzy and felt all smokey.

Saturday March 16: Did some laundry and errands. Drew a few things for Kadunka K. Read a little of Authority v3. Rearranged my room. Hung out with roommate's relatives. Drank entirely too much and ate too little.

Sunday March 17: Hungover, got up late. Slept a lot. Threw on some Gundam 0083, but got sidetracked and watched a Kevin Hart comedy special instead.
Had a lot of trouble getting my computer stable. Drew a wolverine. Ming Doyle had a tumblr Q+A. Strip Search seems to be in full swing.

March 5, Tuesday: I was up late the night before so I crashed early. But I learned about Oji-san No Lamp before I did.

March 6, Wednesday: I finally started catching up with Ghiblijam. I was probably faving posts for an hour straight. I'm very impressed by all the talent and cute work that came out of this.

March 7, Thursday: Didn't do much after work except go grocery shopping for things to make our shooter's sandwiches. I was so excited to find a variety of granola at the nearby market. We prepped our shooters and set them under some weights, then sunk into the couch to watch some wrestling. Again. I feel like I'm wrestling to get my personal time again. Need to isolate myself and feed my brain again. Here's was a brilliant comic by Luke Pearson that somebody recently reposted.

March 8, Friday: I got home from work early and was so tired I fell asleep. Adam & I unwrapped our shooter's sandwiches and washed them down with some Lemon Berry Shandy's I picked up on the way home. I also got some Sriracha Peas. We all watched Smack Down before heading to bed.

March 9, Saturday: I watched Kizuna Ichigeki for the first time and it was love at first sight. Today was the anniversary of Biggie's death. I went to the laundromat and read some of Blade of the Immortal issue 2 while I waited. And then I picked up Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory and The Nao of Brown from the library & bought a chicken + bacon stuffed pizza from Papa Murphys. Pretty good for a Saturday.

March 10, Sunday: Slept in until noon then went to get some Chinese buffet. Today was the spring time change for daylight savings. Back at the house we had Adam's sister's family over for pho & a movie. It was a madhouse, but entertaining to have so much child energy around. Adam's sister makes some good, authentic pho.

This was my first week in the new place. I watched a lot of wrestling with the family, tried to make do with cramped quarters, and ate really, really well. Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10014978337070746391noreply@blogger.com0
