Tear-CAF-inated

130 Posts! Woot!

I caught up with WJC's Gungle. Good stuff. And then I see he and John Allison are contributing to this Nelson Anthology by Rob Davis. Winning!

Meanwhile everybody is enjoying their butts off at TCAF and I am here preparing for next year with a jar of tears.

Mother's Day was also this weekend. I hope you at least called your mother and had a nice conversation with her.

Man! Furry Water looks cool. I've been caught up in something like 10 years of Wildstorm continuity trying to see how Stormwatch leads into the Authority, and also how the other titles ended up. It's laborious, and I realize now I tend to take on these grueling "fun research projects" despite the inherent contradiction.

I also started watching Adventure Time which is the best. No really, the best.

Thanks to Academy of Art Animation Notes for bringing the completion of Rain Town to my attention.

Sometimes I really miss New Jack Swing.

Pencil It In

John Allison should have gotten into Marvel Strange Tales with this one. Oh well, at least he was magnificent enough to inspire this excellent fill-in by Lissa Treiman.

Warwick astounds me again with this unfortunately abandoned 2 pager, Blue Lula.

Next weekend I will be at home crying into a jar to remind me to plan for TCAF 2012.

I have been reading:

http://citriccomics.tumblr.com who also makes music.
http://oddlookingbird.com/ who also does animation. Thanks, of course, for the latter from the former.

I've also put some time into reading Stormwatch v2, The Authority, Supreme Power: Nighthawk, and Batman Hush. I've read a chapter or two of Elantris and Moral Disorder, and have a few left in The Penelopiad.

I also drew things. 1) A journal comic about getting in hot water at work 2) Some practice at drawing women from ref. Figured I had to use these mis-addressed Victoria's Secret Catalogues to good use 3) A drawing I was compelled to do after hearing the news 4) & 5) Warm up sketches
for a dumb comic I want to do about Hordak from the She-Ra cartoon.

This is my new favorite thing ever. Boulet is just frickin' amazing.

Check out Ed Tadem's portfolio. He's the guy currently on MTV's Splashpage header.

Thank you Scott McCloud for leading me here.

In two days I've realized how long it takes me to parse through all the tweets I missed while at work. It's something like 2 hours. Imagine if I was following more people. Ridiculous.

Trust me.

I'm so happy that Okay Pants is once again available to read.

Warwick Johnson Cadwell
is another of those talented Brits here on the interwebz.

And Brandon Graham blows our minds on this TCJ post. OMG Stumptown is almost here again!

Sorry if everything is so scattered today. I had a great weekend with friends and still had a chance to take a nice Sunday me-day out in the sunshine. I walked out of the library with a pair of painting books, a pair of Lewis Trondheim's Little Nothings GN's, a pair of Margaret Atwood books: Moral Disorder and the Penelopeiad, a pair of DVD's: Fellini's Amarcord, and the Magnolia 2007 collection of Academy Award nominated shors, and a pair of really fun suspense TPB's Nick Fury: Agent of Nothing Secret Warriors, and Paul Pope's Heavy Liquid. This is going to be an exciting week!
